The Quiet Type started as a side project of brother and sister, Mike and
Molly Rodriguez, while they were in another band, Citizen X in 1998. At that time, The Quiet Type consisted of acoustic guitars and Molly's singing.
As Citizen X faded away, Mike and Molly decided to put all their focus into The Quiet Type.
In 1999, A friend from a local band sat
in drums while tqt recorded a demo that consisted of 4 songs. Molly and Mike
had a hard time playing shows because they
lacked a permanent drummer. After going through 3 different drummers
Molly met, what has become the famous, Phillip Foshee
in high school.
'
Phil seemed to be the final piece of the band that the Rodriguez siblings were looking for.
In 2000 TQT recorded their self-titled ep ( also known by some as C.X. shhhh...)
in Mike and Molly's garage on Phil's 4 track.
It was well recieved and TQT felt like they really had something.
A year later they record their fave, 'The Meaning of Things,' also on Phil's 4
track. This EP helped them really get their name out there, especially in the World
Wide Web. Many great things happened within the year, but no need to list.
In 2002 they fullfilled their dream to play with Twothirtyeight. They were happy.
A couple months later they were demoing 8 songs for their next release but then, unexpectantly,
school started getting hectic and schedules clashed, The Quiet Type almost faded away.
Each of the members started other bands while TQT sat there, waiting. TQT was on hiatus, but that didn't mean it was forgotten.
Molly and Mike really wanted to shock some life into The Quiet Type again and
phil agreed. But would anyone care or even remember
them? In September 2005, TQT went into the studio to record their track
"Reasoning" for a comp on Mia Cat Empire Records. This was the first time in
almost 2 years the band played together.
Currently the band is trying to record a full length featuring those unheard demo songs of 2003 as well as a few brand new ones.
Is there happy ending to this story? Not yet. Phil Foshee is
leaving in 2006 to move to Austin. This doesnt mean a break up, it just means that time with the famous Phil Foshee is running out, but they will use as much of it
as possible.
The Quiet Type has been through alot and their future holds many uncertainties, but as long as there are people who care about them and want to hear them, They will be around.
THE QUIET TYPE is...
Molly Rodriguez - Vocals, Bass
